Beyoncé shares first photo of her twins Sir and Rumi

The wait is over! After endless speculation, Beyoncé just shared the first photo of her twins with husband Jay-Z, on Instagram.

At 1:10 AM on a Friday (or 10:10 PM on a Thursday on the West Coast), Beyoncé posted a beautiful photo with her twins, in the same style of her gorgeous pregnancy announcement in February.

This time, the icon not only shares their adorable faces with the world for the first time since the news broke on June 17th, but she also confirms their birthday and names.

Along with the caption: “Sir Carter and Rumi 1 month today. ” Beyoncé posted a photo of herself holding her two newborn children, a girl and a boy. This mean the twins were born on 13 June 2017, making them Geminis.

The artist behind the photo may have been Awol Erizku, the photographer behind the images from the pregnancy announcement, though that has yet to be confirmed. The picture shows Beyoncé cradling her babies, draped in a robe, standing in front of a floral arrangement that looks very similar to the one from the February photo shoot, and looks very reminiscent of Botticelli’s classical Venus rising out of the ocean.

It’s thought the idea behind the name Rumi may have come from poet Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi who writes about joy and love. Meanwhile Sir is more confusing. Is his first name ‘Sir Carter‘? But that would make the little boy’s full name ‘Sir Carter Carter’?. In any case, Beyoncé herself will clear up any confusion.

While the world has been buzzing about J-Z‘s latest album 4:44’s release, and the revelations about their marital troubles, it was time for the Queen Bey to put the spotlight back on her and her beautiful family.

So, congrats to the royal family of entertainment: Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Blue Ivy (now the big sister), who have welcomed two gorgeous new additions.
