Jennifer Garner confronted Ben Affleck‘s girlfriend Lindsay Shookus about their affair

Now that Ben Affleck and Lindsay Shookus have gone public with their relationship, other news is coming to light about what happened in the past.

Jennifer Garner, Affleck’s ex-wife, confronted Shookus after she found out about their affair back in 2015.

The Juno and Alias actress was on a work trip to New York City when she approached Shookus about the fling. “Lindsay refused to back down or quit the affair,” a source said, followed by the fact that this relationship appears to be “the breaking point for Jen.”

Affleck and Shookus allegedly began their relationship three years ago, though he and Garner did not officially announce their separation until June 2015. When the affair began, Shookus was still married to her then-husband Kevin Miller, a fellow SNL producer. The two split in 2014.

Meanwhile, close friends of the new couple have said that Shookus was not responsible for ending Affleck and Garner’s 10-year marriage, stating “Ben and Jen had a ton of other problems.” And they insist that the actor has only been dating Shookus for three months, maintaining that the two were just friends and didn’t date before their respective separations.

At the moment, sources say “Jennifer and Lindsay do not have any relationship.”

For his part, the Oscar winner has been spending time in L.A. with Shookus since going public with their relationship last week.

Affleck and Garner announced their separation in 2015 after over a decade of marriage and filed for divorce this past April. They have continued to closely co-parent their three kids: Violet, 11, Seraphina, 8, and Samuel, 5.

“Ben and Jen continue to be dedicated to their family and kids,” says a source close to both Affleck and Garner. “They have been separated for two years now and have never strayed from that dedication. They do it better than anyone.”

In Shookus’s case, she married Kevin Miller in 2010 and the two share custody of their daughter. “They’re both really good friends still,” says a source close to the former couple. “They’re both good, devoted parents. Lindsay and Kevin’s marriage didn’t end over infidelity. There were issues they couldn’t resolve and they realized they were better as friends than together.”
