Bringing sexy back to the halftime show! Justin Timberlake will return to the Super Bowl stage in February 2018 for a record-breaking third time.

The Grammy winner previously appeared at the halftime show for the first time during the 2001 Superbowl when he was a member of ‘NSync, along with Aerosmith and Britney Spears. The pop star returned to the stage for the 2004 Super Bowl, when Janet Jackson was the main act of the show. The singer made headlines and was involved in a lawsuit when he ripped off Janet Jackson’s clothes, exposing her breast during the live broadcast.

The controversial incident was what led the FCC to implement a five-second broadcast delay during every live performance, and many radio stations and TV networks blacklisted Jackson’s singles and music videos. However, Timberlake didn’t receive such criticism or uproar.

Nevertheless, Timberlake reassured in an interview that there won’t be another wardrobe malfunction. “That won’t happen this time,” he said. “There was a little bit of that [discussion]. But no, Mike, that’s not going to happen.”

“I immediately was excited [when the NFL called],” said the Sexy Back singer. “It’s a huge moment, so I was very excited.”

The former ‘NSync frontman also talked about his brainstorming process. “I’ve watched a ton of [previous halftime shows] just to make sure that we’re not pulling out any gags,” said Timberlake. “People are flying, and Lady Gaga jumped from the top of the stadium or something [this February]. I don’t know, man. I’m 36 now. I don’t know how much of that I can do anymore.”

“What I really want to do is take the opportunity to put together a performance that feels like it unifies,” added the Can’t Stop the Feeling singer. “I feel like that would be the ultimate accomplishment, and then the icing on the cake is at some point within that 12 minutes, everybody is shaking their booty.”
