A pair of talented and red hot actors have officially tied the knot! Oscar winner Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender got married in a secret ceremony in Ibiza, according to sources.
The couple exchanged vows at the luxurious La Granja farmstead resort surrounded by friends and family. Before the ceremony, the two stars were spotted hanging out with friends and family over the weekend after arriving from Paris last week, with the Swedish actress wearing a white, summery gown with matching heart sunglasses
Academy Award winner director, Steve McQueen, who directed Fassbender in 2011’s Shame, was also photographed at the celebration. In recent photos, the newly minted husband and wife were seen wearing bands on their left hands as they dined with groups of guests.
Over the summer rumors swirled that the actors had gotten engaged, but neither reps confirmed the news.
The actors met in 2014 on the set of their film The Light Between Oceans, based on a 2013 psychological thriller novel by M. L. Stedman, in which the actors played a married couple. The couple remained low-key and tight-lipped about their relationship
While promoting the movie, the couple talked in an interview about the importance of keeping their relationship private. “I think we’ve made a clear statement that we keep certain things just between us,” Vikander said. “It was very easy to unite, but that’s quite personal.”
When asked how they’re able to keep their personal lives out of the spotlight compared with other stars, Fassbender simply said: “But that’s other people. Each to their own. I’m not going to talk about my private life with a total stranger, unless I feel like I need to. Why would I? I don’t.”
Fassbender and Vikander made their public debut as a couple at the Golden Globes in 2016, where the actor shared that he was “very proud” of his girlfriend’s success. At that time, Vikander was a double nominee for her performances in The Danish Girl and Ex Machina.
