Serena Williams Shares First Photo of Her Newborn Daughter

A bundle of joy for a sport’s living legend! Serena Williams shares the first photo of her newborn daughter and welcomed fans to watch a lovely video diary of her pregnancy.

“Meet Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.,” Williams wrote with a beautiful photo of the mother and daughter together. The baby is named after the baby’s father, Reddit co-founder and Tech mogul Alexis Ohanian.

In a series of Instagram stories, tennis undisputed champion shared her diary which included some special moments such as baby’s first ultrasound, photos of Serena’s baby bump and the couples’ 50’s themed baby shower.

The video also includes Serena’s victory at the Australian Open, which she won while pregnant. The 23-time grand slam champ talked about that moment, last month. “Two weeks after we found out, I played the Australian Open,” she said at the time. “I told Alexis it has to be a girl because there I was playing in 100-degree weather, and that baby never gave me any trouble. Ride or die. Women are tough that way.” And she was right!

The series closes with a video of the glowing mom and precious baby, where she revealed that she had complications after giving birth.

“So we’re leaving the hospital after 6 days, it’s been a long time,” the new mother says in the final instastory. ”We had a lot of complications but look who we got! We got a baby girl.” The video closes with a title card that gives more info about the newborn: “Hello, world. Baby girl Alexis Olympia Ohanian, Jr. Born: September 1, 2017. Weight: 6 lb 14 oz. Grand slam titles: 1”.

The series of stories was also turned into a single video and shared via Serena’s website and the proud dad’ social media accounts. “Welcome, Olympia, we’re so happy to meet you. We made you a video of our adventure together so far,” read Ohanian’s caption on his Instagram page.

Williams and Ohanian got engaged in December 2016. The new parents have yet to announce a wedding date.
