Whoa, even Donald Trump’s own wife thinks he’s a bit of a loudmouth! Barbara Walters sat down with Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump and his wife Melania and we’re getting to hear for the first time what Melania really thinks of her husband’s campaign.
Barbara Walters, 86, grabbed the very first interview with Donald Trump, 69, and his gorgeous wife Melania, 45, since he announced he was running for president back in June. On the Nov. 20 edition of ABC’s 20/20, we’re finally getting to hear for the first time what the stunning former model thinks about her husband’s presidential bid, and when she tells him to tone things down!
When it comes to giving him advice about the debates, she said “We discuss, I tell him my opinions,” but when pressed about a specific example she smiled and said, “I will keep it private.” Donald chimed in to say “She’s told me a couple of times she was happy with my performances, but she said you could tone it down a little bit on occasion, which I understand.” Wow! The Donald tones things down for his wife? Way to go Melania!
She also explained why she’s been largely absent from the campaign trail, and it’s because she’s putting her family first! “It’s my choice not to be there. I support my husband 100 percent but we have a nine-year-old-son together, Barron, and I’m raising him and at this is the age he needs a parent at home.”

Barbara quizzed the couple on if they have a marriage of equals. “I would say yes,” Melania replied but Donald quickly jumped in to say, “I would say no, no…I think she’s far greater than the fifty percent,” he joked before saying, “We have a very, very, pretty much equal relationship, wouldn’t you say?” as he smiled and turned to his lovely wife. The Slovenian beauty was asked, “What’s biggest criticism that’s untrue that we can clear up,” to which she replied, “I would say that he’s nasty, he’s not. He has a big heart and a very warm heart, You see what he is on the campaign trail all the time and on television and I think America needs a strong leader and tough leader.” One thing is clear thoughout this interview – if The Donald does become president, we’re going to have one smart and gorgeous FLOTUS and Donald agrees, saying Melania would make a “beautiful and elegant” First Lady.
