For this track, the pop star worked with one of his longtime collaborator BloodPop, who also produced several Purpose album tracks including smash hit “Sorry.” The song was co-written by Julia Michaels and Justin Trante

“Friends” is the latest in a string of collaborations from the singer, following up “Cold Water” with Major Lazer and , “Let Me Love You” with DJ Snake, “I’m the One” with DJ Khaled, Chance the Rapper, Quavo and Lil Wayne, and “2U” with David Guetta.

But no collaboration has been as big as the hit of the summer: “Despacito (Remix)” with Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. The record-breaking song took the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts by a storm, and it’s currently tied for the second-longest running in the 59-year history of the chart.

Right now, it’s almost the two year anniversary of his most recent album, Purpose, which dropped in November 2015, so it remains to be seen if “Friends” is part of a new LP.

But fans will have to wait a little bit longer to see the song performed live, since Bieber canceled the remaining dates of his Purpose world tour back in July.

The singer addressed the cancellation in an Instagram post earlier this month, saying fans that he is “extremely blessed” and “grateful” for his career but he needs the time to become the person he wants to be.

Justin Bieber apologizes to fans in a heartfelt Instagram Post

Sorry is more than the title of Bieber’s big hit. After the recent cancellation of the remaining dates from his Purpose World Tour at the end of July, Justin Bieber decided to explain to his fans the real reasons behind this decision.

The press speculated that Bieber’s involvement with the Hillsong Church and his allegiance to pastor Carl Lenz was the real reason behind this huge career move, but the popstar dedicated a very special Instagram post to clarify.

In his post today, Bieber said that he was working on himself and surrounding himself with people who would help him be the man he wants to be.

He wrote, “I am extremely blessed to have people in the past few years help me build my character back up reminding me of who I am and who I want to be!!!”

Bieber also added, “My past decisions and past relationships won’t dictate my future decisions and my future relationships. I’m VERY aware I’m never gonna be perfect, and I’m gonna keep making mistakes. I wanna be a man that learns from them and grows from them!! I want you all to know this tour has been unbelievable and has taught me so much about myself. I am reminded of how blessed I am to have a voice in this world. I’ve learned the more you appreciate your calling the more you want to protect your calling.”

And just in case people feared that the Grammy winner was leaving the music world behind, Bieber makes it clear that that he’s in it for the long haul but wants to make sure that he can have a better life in order to be a better performer and person.

“Me taking this time right now is me saying I want to be SUSTAINABLE. I want my career to be sustainable, but I also want my mind heart and soul to be sustainable so that I can be the man I want to be, the husband I eventually want to be and the father I want to be.”

In the lengthy post, Bieber adds, “This message is just an opportunity for you to know my heart, I’m not expecting anyone to understand, but I do want people to have an opportunity to know where I am coming from!”

John Mayer defends Justin Bieber’s tour cancellation

Fellow musician John Mayer defends Justin Bieber from the backlash that the singer has received after the news of the cancellation of his Purpose world Tour.

“When someone pulls remaining dates of a tour, it means they would have done real damage to themselves if they kept going,” wrote the singer, who was forced to take a long break from touring himself as he battled a throat condition in 2012. “We’ve lost so many great artists lately. I give Justin [two thumbs up] for realizing it was time to call it. You should too.”

The “Sorry” singer announced on Monday, July 24, that he is not going to finish his tour, canceling the remaining 14 shows.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber will cancel the remainder of the Purpose World Tour concerts,” a rep for Bieber’s tour told in a statement. “Justin loves his fans and hates to disappoint them. He thanks his fans for the incredible experience of the Purpose World Tour over last 18 months. He is grateful and honored to have shared that experience with his cast and crew for over 150 successful shows across six continents during this run. However, after careful consideration he has decided he will not be performing any further dates. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase.”

The Canadian popstar also announced on Instagram back in March that he was canceling all meet and greets for the tour.

“Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression,” he said. “The pressure of meeting people’s expectations of what I’m supposed to be is so much for me to handle and a lot on my shoulders.”

Love u guys.. I'm going to be canceling my meet and greets. I enjoy meeting such incredible people but I end up feeling so drained and filled with so much of other people's spiritual energy that I end up so drained and unhappy.. Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression .. The pressure of meeting people's expectations of what I'm supposed to be is so much for me to handle and a lot on my shoulders. Never want to disappoint but I feel I would rather give you guys the show and my albums as promised. Can't tell you how sorry I am, and wish it wasn't so hard on me.. And I want to stay in the healthy mindset I'm in to give you the best show you have ever seen 😉

“Sorry for anybody who feels disappointed or betrayed,” he told his fans.

Justin has been on the tour for 16 months, since it started in Seattle on March 6, 2016, before the cancellation with 14 more datesto go in the US, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, the Phillippines, wrapping in Singapor on October 7, with Vic MensaMigos and Martin Garrix scheduled to open various shows. The shows in China were cancelled given that the young singer is temporarily banned from the country.

The final concert of his ‘Purpose’ World Tour was in Hyde Park, London on July 2.

Justin Bieber banned from performing in China due to “bad behavior”

Justin Bieber’s bad reputation caught up to him in China. The People’s Republic of China has officially banned the Canadian heartthrob from performing on the mainland because of his “bad behavior” on and off the stage.

The reason behind the strong measure is that the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture is on a quest to “purify” the country’s entertainment industry.

The “bad behavior” from Bieber includes run-ins with the law over alleged drunk driving and drag racing.

Writing a statement in response to a fan’s demand for an explanation of the 23-year-old pop star’s ban, the bureau wrote on its website this week: “We sympathize with your feelings. Justin Bieber is a talented singer but is also a controversial young foreign idol. We understand that there are records of his bad behavior, whether it is in his private life abroad or on stage….”

“His inappropriate manner has caused public discontent. In order to regulate the market order of show business in China and purify the market environment, it was decided that performers of inappropriate behavior will not be welcomed,” they added.

The news comes as a blow to Chinese Beliebers who were hoping to see their favorite singer during the Asian leg of his tour later this year, since it already has scheduled shows in Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Bieber last performed in China in 2013 as part of his Believe tour, but he caused upset among some of its residents when he was pictured being carried up the Great Wall of China by his bodyguards.

Despite the ban, the bureau suggested that it was only temporary. In their statement, they added: “We hope Justin Bieber is able to improve his conduct as he grows up and will once again find public favor.”

China’s strict ban to artists and performers is not uncommon. In 2008, Icelandic experimental artist Bjork was banned after calling for Tibetan independence during a show in Shanghai, and Maroon 5 and Oasis are also forbidden from performing after expressing support for Tibet.

Justin Bieber Admits He’s ‘Dead Serious’ About Marrying ‘Soon.’

At the point when Justin Bieber was in Australia for his Purpose visit in March, he invested energy with some Make A Wish patients and even allowed one to meet him one-on-one. He doesn’t keep anything down in the Q&A, either: When she inquires as to whether he would transform anything about his life at this moment, Justin reacts, “I mean, I honestly want to find a girlfriend. I seriously want a girl. Dead serious. I want to get married! Not right now, but, like, soon.” Aww! Justin hasn’t been in a genuine relationship since he split from Selena Gomez years prior, and he’s obviously prepared to be a one-woman man again.

In any case, Justin has fundamentally been out and about constant since the finish of 2015, so he hasn’t precisely had sufficient energy to settle down. Although he’s been seen partying with bikini-clad women in multiple countries and has had a few publicized flings, nothing’s ever stuck for the singer. The Purpose visit will at last wrap toward the finish of this late spring, however, so ideally, he gets the well-deserved break he needs!

On Selena… she, at last, has possessed the capacity to move on from the years of ‘Jelena.’ Ever since January, she has been practically inseparable from her new boyfriend, The Weeknd, 27. From going along with him on a visit to setting out with him to Europe AND strolling the Met Gala celebrity lane together, these two are the REAL deal.
