Miley Cyrus Reminds Us She Can Seriously Sing With Paul Simon Cover On ‘SNL 40′

After a brief cameo in the star-packed opening monologue, Miley Cyrus had her chance to shine with a show-stopping solo spot during the Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary special. Instead of the usual provocative antics that we’ve come to expect from the 22-year-old, she kept her massive pipes front and center to belt out a killer version of  Paul Simon‘s classic “50 Ways To Leave Your Lover.” It’s hard enough to deliver the goods on live television, but it couldn’t have been easy knowing that Paul himself was sitting in the studio audience!

Miley turned “50 Ways” into a funky hoedown, with a hand from former SNL cast member Fred Armisen on tambourine. Not like she needed the help, because her throaty Mezzo-Soprano had the crowd on their feet and singing along. It was a fitting tribute, as she had served as both host and musical guest on a recent episode of the program— a duty shared by Simon on the second show back in 1975. Full circle, y’all.

Taylor Swift — OMG, I Rocked with Paul McCartney!

021615_snl_taylor_launchEven haters can’t hate, hate, hate this video — Paul McCartney channeling his inner 15-year-old girl and jamming with Taylor Swift on “Shake It Off.”

The ultimate bridge between generations went down at the “SNL” 40th anniversary after-party Sunday night — and Jimmy Fallon joined ’em on stage too.

Taylor returned the favor by rocking the Beatles, “Saw Her Standing There” — and she played a pretty strong rhythm guitar, while Paul played bass. If only Fallon had some drumsticks.

And now Taylor and Kanye have one more thing in common.

Tinseltown is still shocked at the news that passed away over the weekend in a fiery car crash, and grieving father Paul Walker Sr. opened up to Los Angeles’ CBS2 on Sunday (December 1).

Mr. Walker shared, “I’m just glad that every time I saw him, I told him I loved him. And he would say the same thing to me. Paul’s brothers are all taking it pretty hard.”

He continued, “His heart was so big. I was proud of him every day of his life,” noting that the family has received plenty of love from their close pals. “You can’t beat friends at a time like this.”

As for his son’s daughter Meadow, Walker Sr. noted “[He told me] ‘I want to take a hiatus. She’s just 15 and I don’t have much more time to be with her.’ Then boom, he got another movie. He would say, ‘I don’t know what to do.’”

Even has been troubled by Walker’s death. On Sunday (December 1) the “Adjustment Bureau” hunk arrived at LAX International Airport and told the paparazzi, “That’s f*cking horrible.”

Paul’s fans have set up a massive vigil in Valencia, California at the site of the accident, piling flowers, candles, photos, and other various items in memory of the “Fast and the Furious” star. Reportedly, co-star Tyrese Gibson has visited the memorial.

Paul Walker — Death Car May Have Malfunctioned

1201_walker_car_rodas_tmz_facebookThe exotic sports car in which Paul Walker violently died, crashed as a result of mechanical failure — very possibly a steering fluid leak … this according to sources closely tied to the auto shop where the vehicle was stored and maintained.

Sources connected to Always Evolving — the shop co-owned by Walker and the Porsche driver Roger Rodas — tell TMZ they saw evidence of a fluid burst and subsequent fluid trail before the skid marks at the accident scene.

The AE sources point to the fact there is a noticeable absence of skid marks until just before the point of impact. They say if Roger had lost control the skid marks would show swerving, but instead the marks were in a straight line. They feel this cements the theory the driver didn’t have steering control.

Also suspicious — the fire spreading so quickly in the front of the car. The sources say flames would be expected in the rear where the engine is … but fire in the front reinforces their theory of a fluid leak of some sort.

113013_paul_walker_burning_launchWe’re told the $ 500,000 Carrera GT was NOT modified and was driven rarely so they believe any failure must be a factory defect.

As one source put it … “Roger was a world class driver” — and while he might have been speeding (as cops have said) … the notion he just lost control is preposterous.

Paul Walker Crash — Cops Investigating Possible Street Race

Cops are investigating the possibility that Paul Walker was in the middle of a high-speed street race with another car at the time he crashed and died this weekend … TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell us … investigators have received tips that Walker and the man driving the Porsche, Roger Rodas, had been racing prior to the crash … and the high speed may have contributed to the wreck that killed both men.

Sources say … the area where the crash occurred has a history of being a popular street racing location.

We’re told cops are on the hunt for video and witnesses that could prove another car was involved.

Paul Walker Crash — Cops Wrestled Friend Away from Burning Car [Photos]

This is the dramatic moment when a cop had to physically wrestle one of Paul Walker‘s friends away from the crash scene … seconds after it became clear Paul could not be saved.

TMZ broke the story … Paul’s friends rushed to the scene — one even grabbed a fire extinguisher and desperately tried to extinguish the flames.

When the fire dept. arrived they tried to pull Paul’s friends away. One of Paul’s longtime friends, a guy named Nute, was so overwrought with emotion, he punched a firefighter. We’re told Sheriff’s deputies put Nute — and several other of Paul’s friends — in custody, but let them go when they realized the circumstances.

Cops now believe Paul and the driver of the Porsche may have been in a street race with another car at the time of the crash and are looking for footage and witnesses.

Paul Walker Dead — ‘Fast and The Furious’ Star Dies in Fiery Car Crash

Paul Walker — best known for his role in “The Fast and the Furious” movies — died Saturday afternoon after a single-car accident and explosion in Southern California … TMZ has learned.

The accident happened in Santa Clarita — north of Los Angeles — and according to multiple sources connected to Paul … the actor was in a Porsche when the driver somehow lost control and slammed into a post or a tree … and then the car burst into flames.

We’re told Paul and another person in the car were killed. Law enforcement is still on the scene, and we’re told the L.A. County Coroner’s Office is on the way.

1130_paul_walker_accident_scene_twitterAt this point, it’s unclear what caused the accident, or who was behind the wheel when it happened.

Paul was 40 years old.

Sources close to Paul tell us he was in Santa Clarita for a car show to support the Philippines typhoon relief effort, and had been taking friends out for rides in his new Porsche GT. The accident happened during one of those test spins.
